Rabbit R1 is Just ChatGPT on Steroids

A new Useless Device has arrived on the market; the Rabbit R1.

Rabbit R1 is Useless

Its price is $199 and it also looks quite good. It has a small 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen display, a 360° rotatable camera, a push-to-talk button, and an analog scroll wheel.

And in my opinion, this is just an advanced version of ChatGPT.

Let me explain….

Rabbit R1 vs ChatGPT

If you ask ChatGPT anything, it will give you an answer. For example, I asked, “Plan a trip from the U.S. to Paris and My Budget is $1500,” so it will just plan the trip for you.

But if you ask the same thing to Rabbit R1, not only will it plan the trip for you, but if you confirm the trip, it will book the entire trip like train or flight tickets, book hotels, and all other things for you.

Let me explain with another example….

  • Can you order food with ChatGPT? No.
  • Can you book a cab with ChatGPT? No.
  • Can you call or message someone with ChatGPT? No.

But with Rabbit R1, you can do all these things; you just have to give it a command, and it will do everything for you.

And broadly, this is the difference between ChatGPT and Rabbit R1, which is why I call it “ChatGPT on Steroids.”

ChatGPT is based on a Large Language Model (LLM), which means it can only show you information but cannot do any work for you. Rabbit R1 can solve this because it is based on a Large Action Model (LAM), meaning it will do your work on your behalf, as I explained in the above examples.

Rabbit R1 vs Smartphones

In the beginning, I called it a useless device, let me clarify that now….

To use the Rabbit R1, you have to give voice commands, just like how we give commands to virtual assistants on smartphones.

Yes, I admit that Siri or Google Assistant are not as good as Rabbit R1.

But, will Apple or Google not integrate Rabbit R1’s features into their virtual assistants?

Obviously, they will, if not now then a little later, because developing technology takes some time, and when they do so, what will be the benefit of products like Rabbit R1?

The Rabbit themselves are saying that it is not a replacement for smartphones, but you can carry it with you as a Personal Assistant so that some of your manual work is reduced.

For example, if you need to call a cab, you would have to open Uber on your phone, enter the destination, and book the cab, but with Rabbit R1, you just give a voice command like “Book a cab to this destination,” and your work is done.

Now, what do you think, is Rabbit R1 a game changer, or just a temporary fascination? Do comment and share your opinion.
